new street square, London, UK

Stewarts relocated from Lincoln’s Inn Fields to 5 New Street Square, occupying two floors. Engaging directly with the client and liaising with the interior designer, we established locations around the office which required artwork. Each floor had 360-degree views of London. Since artwork was required along four sides on both floors (facing north, east, south and west), I put forward a proposal placing artwork of London landmarks in positions along the corridors in which they would be viewable from the office. For example, since Tower Bridge was in the SE direction, it was placed in the SE corner of the office. This was repeated over the two floors. Additional photography of north London was required since the majority of London’s landmarks were in the south and west directions from their offices. The artwork had to be hung between glass partitions from a single screw, and so the recommended medium was canvas as it was the lightest material. The material of the canvas also provided contrast to the glass partitions. The artwork was installed just after relocation to avoid damage to the artwork.

"Prior to moving into our new offices at 5 New Street Square, we commissioned Alex to provide artwork for our two floors. He worked directly with me to develop a theme of London landmarks reflecting our 360 degrees views of London. For the project Alex produced a series of new photographs in addition to selecting photographs from his existing portfolio, which he recommended printing on canvas, a medium that was well-suited to hanging on our glass partition walls. At all stages Alex kept us well informed of his progress and ensured the project was in budget and on time. The final works are beautiful and have attracted many positive comments from both staff and clients.”
