LONDON: Oxo Tower

LONDON: Oxo Tower

from £309.00

The Oxo Tower gets its name from the manufacturers of the Oxo beef stock cubes, who acquired the building in the 1920s, after it was originally built as a power station. Rebuilt by architect Albert Moore between 1928 and 1929. The “OXO” symbol comes from vertically aligned windows of a circle, cross and circle. It was ‘coincidental’ and appeared to get around the refusal to place advertisements on the tower.

The South Bank is such a lively place in London and full of colour. One of my favourite nighttime images of London which captures the River Thames, South Bank and the City in the background. The cloud arrived at the right moment. The next frame on my camera didn’t work out quite as well. Photographed in 2018.
